SURVIVOR
I am a wife and mother of two beautiful children. I live in Loudonville where I am a parishioner of St. Pius X Church. I am an alumna of Albany Law School, Fordham University, and the Academy of the Holy Names. I am also a breast cancer survivor.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer on December 23, 2008. I was 25 years old. I had chemotherapy, multiple surgeries and radiation. Battling cancer is extremely difficult, yet necessary for survival. It became immediately evident on my cancer journey that I needed help, emotional, physical, and financial. My family handled everything. I was lucky.
As of July 2010, I am cancer free! I continue a form of chemotherapy called Tamoxifen and meet with my oncologist every six months. Cancer prevention and treatment will always be a major part of my life. My story could have been very different if it were not for the many blessings I was given. I feel a deep responsibility to go forward with God’s grace and give back to the world. Through it all, I am choosing to feel blessed and share blessings.
Cancer is expensive. Being financially burdened is detrimental to one’s recovery. Everyone has different familial and financial circumstances. Our organization exists to help someone like a family would. I was blessed to have a wonderful team of doctors and caregivers throughout my treatment. Without which, I would not be here. These people are the reason that I have started this charity. These are the people that I can never repay, but what I can do is go forward with the generosity that they have shown me and help others. I can be a glimmer of hope to others on their cancer journey.
Join me in doing this.
